I wonder who Eva was, and what the story behind this ice cream recipe is. I’m not sure whose handwriting this is, or from what year. It was written in blue pen.
I’ve never made ice cream, though I know lots of people today have ice cream makers and make their own. It’s so convenient for us to just purchase ours from a nearby dairy or the market.
I’ll have to dig up a funny letter that my great aunt wrote in 1939, when she first went to “Normal School” in London, Ontario. She and some friends sneaked out to buy some ice cream from a drug store, and gobbled up the entire block. It was such a funny letter, because it seemed like a small felony that they did this and might get found out by the person they were boarding with!
